Looking for a Preakness pick?

The middle jewel in the Triple Crown is often the middle child, overlooked all too often, but this year the Preakness has an exciting question:  Can the Bob Baffert-trained Bodemeister take the victory he, many believe, should have had in the Kentucky Derby?

For ruminations on this topic and to get ready for tomorrow's race, here are some people with thoughts on the matter:

  1. The last Triple Crown winner Affirmed won in 1978, the year my daughter Annie was born. My son Willie was born the year before when Seattle Slew won.

Annie lives in Seattle and went to Vancouver two weeks ago for a half marathon. That's when I learned that I'll Take Another and his jockey had Vancouver roots.

Yesterday Annie was once again in Vancouver for a Seattle Sounders match.

When I'll Take Another won The Preakness, I called Annie and told her she'd have to go back to Vancouver the weekend of The Belmont so we can have another Triple Crown winner this year.

Quirky stuff, but fun to think about. What a race yesterday!

He just needs to take one more . . . !
